Gimmo Etro was inspired by his passions for travelling & history and sought to develop a fashion line to reflect this. He interpreted the rich design techniques he had learned during his travels and founded Etro in 1968.
Stunning textiles, exotic beauty and the different cultural aesthetics Gimmo witnessed on his travels were the inspiration behind the first collection. He employed precious fabrics such as cashmere, silk, cotton and linen and transformed them into fresh and innovating pieces with modern cuts and patterns.
With a passion for quality, innovation and aesthetic refinement, the fashion-forward Italian brand quickly became synonymous with style. The paisley pattern became their signature style and transformed simple staple pieces such as handbags, suitcases and overnight bags into the ultimate style statement.
In 1985, Etro branched out from fashion into furnishings and launched an entire collection of home accessories. Boasting a wide array of products from quilts to photo frames, the cosmopolitan collection infuses chic Italian style and transforms a house into a home.
